Setting up and pairing older printer models with the Storyous (no longer sold)

Small Bluetooth Printer Xprinter (No longer available)

Loading the Paper Roll

Recommended: ordering paper rolls from us, as we offer only high-quality German-made thermal paper.

Open the top of the printer and insert the paper roll into the internal compartment so that the paper unwinds upwards, as shown in the image. If the paper is running low, the red panel on the front of the printer will light up.

Pairing the Printer with Your Tablet

Plug the printer into an outlet and turn it on. In the Android settings on your tablet, open the Bluetooth section and ensure that the Bluetooth adapter is turned on (3). In the available devices list, you will see the printer listed as Printer001. Tap on it (4).

To pair the devices, enter the PIN code, which for this printer model is 123456. After entering the code, Printer001 will move from the available devices section to the paired devices section in Bluetooth settings.

In the Storyous POS app, go to the Devices section (5), select the printer on the left side, and print a test page (6). The printer will print a confirmation that everything is working correctly.

Self-test

A self-test is a printout containing the technical details of your device. To print the self-test, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the printer is plugged into an outlet. Turn off the printer.
  2. While the printer is off, press and hold the FEED button.
  3. Keep holding the button and turn the printer on. After turning it on, continue holding the button for about 5 seconds. The printer will then print a longer page with technical details — the self-test. On the self-test printout, look for the physical address of the printer marked as BT MAC.

Diagnostics

On your printer, you will find two LED indicators – red and blue.

  • If the red indicator is on continuously, it means the device is powered on. If it blinks by itself, the printer is on but inactive.
  • The blue indicator will blink quickly while charging, slowly when the battery is low, and stay on continuously when the device is fully charged, and you can disconnect it from the charger.
  • If both indicators blink at the same time, the printer is signaling a paper shortage.

Large LAN STAR Printer

Loading the Paper Roll

We recommend ordering paper rolls from us, as we offer only high-quality German-made thermal paper. Open the top of the printer by pressing the button on the right side of the top cover and pulling it upwards. Insert the paper roll into the internal compartment so that the paper unwinds upwards, as shown in the image.

Self-test

A self-test is a printout containing the technical details of your device. To print the self-test, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the printer is plugged into an outlet. Turn off the printer.
  2. While the printer is off, press and hold the FEED button (on the front of the device).
  3. Keep holding the button and turn the printer on. Once the printer is on, continue holding the button for about 5 seconds, then release it. The printer will then print one short page, followed by a longer one with technical details — the self-test.

Two printouts will be produced, and we are interested in the second one.

Printer Reset

The printer needs to be reset when changing the router, after a power outage, or a blown fuse. After resetting, you will need to reconfigure the printer through its software interface.

Steps:

  1. Ensure the printer is plugged in and turned on.
  2. On the back, to the left of the LAN cable, you will find a small red button labeled SW. To press it, you will need a sharp object, such as a pen.
  3. Press and hold the button. After about two seconds, the LAN cable indicators will begin to blink. Once this happens, release the button and quickly press it again — a quick tap.
  4. The indicators will turn off, and the reset process will begin — you will hear the printer’s internal mechanism moving.
  5. The front indicators will blink rapidly, and then only the green light will remain on, indicating that the reset is complete.

If the reset does not work after several attempts, unplug the printer’s adapter from the socket for 10-15 minutes, give the printer a moment to rest, and try resetting it again later.

Diagnostics

On the front of the printer, you will find two indicators — POWER (green) and ERROR (red).

  • If only the red ERROR light blinks, the printer is out of paper.
  • If both indicators blink slowly at the same time, there is a communication issue with the router. In this case, the LAN cable is likely not properly plugged in or is faulty. Try disconnecting and reconnecting it, or consider replacing it.
  • If both indicators blink rapidly, the printer has lost its IP address. Try turning off the router, wait for a moment, then turn it on again, or plug the printer’s LAN cable into a different port on the router. Afterward, reset the printer. If the self-test prints all zeros, you will need to contact your network technician.

How to Pair the Printer?

  5. Click on this device and enter the password 1234.
  6. The printer is now paired. Go to the Storyous app, log out, and log back in.
  7. Print a test receipt in the Settings > Printers section to check if everything is working properly.

Self-test

  1. Turn off your printer and disconnect the charging cable.
  2. Press and hold the FEED and POWER buttons.
  3. Once the purple indicator light turns on, release both buttons, and a self-test will print.
  4. On the last line of the self-test, you should see the entry Bluetooth Addr.
