In the administration you can create a daily menu for any location. You can set up a lunch menu for specific days of the week along with information on how many portions you have available. Setting up and managing your daily menu in the administration will help staff when taking orders at the till in the Storyous app.
Setting up the daily menu in the administration
If you manage several locations in the administration, first select the venue in which you want to create the daily menu.
In the top left you will then see several options: you can choose the time period for the setup – the week, copy a menu from one week to another, create a template, print, or edit the settings.
Select a day and click in the Add item field.
Start typing the product name and then select a specific one from the offered list. The price and description of the product will be filled in automatically.
Now you can edit the price and description. You can also set the Amount (available portions).
Click the Save button.
You can change the order of products in the daily menu by dragging the six dots at the end of the row. Click the bin to remove an item.
If you don't yet have the product among your existing products, you can also create it in the daily menu:
- Click Add item again, type the product name, and click create product.
- Fill in the required details and click Create (we recommend setting the printer for printing right away, for example Kitchen).
Copying the daily menu to another week
You can easily copy the whole weekly menu to other weeks, just click Copy to to and select a specific week.
| Important: Copying will remove items that are already set for that week. |
Daily menu templates
Templates make it easier to create the daily menu repeatedly. You save an entire week's offering into them and can later use it for another week.
Creating a template
Prepare the offering for the selected week.
Click Templates in the top right.
Enter a name and click + Add.
The template contains the name, description, price, and quantity.
Using a template
Select the week for which you want to use the template.
Open Templates, select the desired template, and click use.
| Important: Using a template will delete the current daily menu you already have set for that week. |
Editing and deleting a template
You can view, edit, or delete a saved template at any time. Changes will only take effect in the template, not in a daily menu that has already been created.
Printing the daily menu
To print, you can use the printer icon in the top right - a PDF file with the daily menu for the whole week will appear.
If you want to print only a selected day, just click Print next to that day.
Daily menu settings
You will find the settings for the various daily menu functions on the right under the gear icon.
Here you can set the type – whether the daily menu repeats and on which days, or whether you have a fixed offering on some days.
There is also the option to select a time restriction, i.e. the times during which the daily menu can be ordered. You will see this setting at the till. Outside the time period the daily menu will not be available at the till.
Daily menu in the Storyous app
At the till, the Daily menu is displayed as a separate product category, only with variable items. If you entered the number of portions while creating the daily menu in the administration, you will also find the number of remaining portions next to the specific product.
Remaining portions are colour-coded according to the quantity:
- green, if more than 10 portions remain,
- orange, if 10 to 1 portions remain,
- red, if the number of portions is 0.
The Daily menu category will only be visible on the tablet on the days for which the daily menu has been saved.
|
Tip: For better clarity, we recommend creating a product category called Daily menu - archive, where you can store all products created for the daily menu. For the product, you do not tick visibility on the tablet, so the category itself will not be available at the till either. Thanks to this category, you can link individual products to stock cards using Recipes and then track them in reports. If a dish is repeated in the menu, it will already be offered in the suggestion list together with the linked recipe. |
