Storyous Integration with the Teya Payment Terminal

In this article, you will learn how to connect the Teya payment terminal with the Storyous POS application and how to set up the mobile waiter including the payment gateway. Below, you will also find out how to refund a card transaction, including returning the amount back to the customer’s card.

Important:

  • You can find the device’s serial number on the back as S/N: under the barcode.
  • Users with the newbie role cannot link the terminal.
  • Make sure the device is connected to only one type of network – either Wi‑Fi or mobile data (you can see the connection in the top bar).

Setting up the Teya Payments app

  1. Launch the Teya Payments app and allow access to Location, Phone and Media. (If you want to return to the home screen, swipe up and tap the circle icon.)
  1. Tap Get started, select the language and, if needed, connect to Wi‑Fi (the device contains a SIM card, so connecting to Wi‑Fi is not necessary).
  2. Tap Start sign‑in and follow the instructions on the screen:
    • You can use the Teya app on your mobile phone, the Camera app or a QR code reader and tap Show QR code.
      • In the Teya app go to Explore -> Payment devices -> Activate and scan the QR code.
      • In the Camera app, scan the QR code and tap the link. A pre‑filled code will be displayed; just send it and then sign in using your email address and password.
  1. Check the venue name and tap Next. If you have several companies under the same email, select the company for which you want to activate the terminal.
  2. Create a manager PIN code and confirm it, adjust the Quick settings according to your needs and tap Start selling.

Explanation of Quick settings:

  • Other card schemes: Turn on acceptance of cards issued by American Express and Diners Club. Your foreign guests may use these cards.
  • Merchant receipt: After every card payment a payment confirmation will be printed directly from the terminal.
  • Tips: You can accept tips directly on the terminal. Set the percentage rates and choose either Maximisation (the customer will have to tap the screen for the payment gateway to open) or Fast checkout (there is no need to select a tip; the payment gateway opens immediately).

Setting up the connection with the POS

If your terminal is in manual mode (you see a calculator) and you want to connect it to the POS, proceed as follows:

  1. Tap Menu in the top‑right corner.
  2. Open POS integration -> External ePOS integration and select Cloud communication.
  3. Then tap the back button in the top‑left corner three times – the screen should now show the Teya logo and the name of your business.
  1. Now on the POS in the Storyous app tap Menu ≡ -> Settings -> Payment terminal.
  2. Tap Pair new terminal and select your terminal model and serial number (you will find it as S/N: on the back of the device under the barcode).

Card payment

  1. Create a New bill or select an open bill in the Storyous app on the POS.
  2. Tap Pay all / Pay separately at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select By card.
  4. The payment will automatically appear on the terminal or in the terminal app on the mobile waiter.
  5. Tap, insert or swipe the card.
  6. The bill will be automatically marked as paid in Storyous.
