First steps with the printer

Printers are used for printing receipts and order slips (e.g., for the kitchen). They use thermal printing, so you don’t need toner – just thermal paper (80mm wide). All Xprinter printers require a constant power supply. In this article, you will learn how to connect the printer using LAN, Bluetooth, and USB.

Connecting the Printer

  1. Plug the printer adapter into a power source and turn it on using the button on the right side.
  2. Make sure the paper is loaded correctly (the paper roll should unwind upwards).

Connection Options

  • LAN: Connecting the printer to the router with a LAN cable.
  • Bluetooth: Pairing the printer with the cash register via Bluetooth.
  • USB: Connecting the printer and the cash register with a USB cable.

LAN Printer Setup

  1. Plug the LAN cable into the port labeled Net on the back of the printer, and connect the other end to the router.
  2. Once connected, the green and orange lights on the Net port will turn on. This indicates that the printer is receiving an internet connection.

Important:

  • You can find all LAN printer specifications here.
  • Solutions to the most common LAN printer issues can be found here.
  • If you have an older LAN STAR model, you can find the information here.

Printing a Self-Test

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Feed button, turn the printer on, and release the button after 3 seconds.
  3. The printed document will contain the printer’s IP address.

Attention

  • If a blank paper was printed or the paper shows “hexadecimal”, please repeat the procedure – the self-test was not successful.
  • If the IP address ends with 123.100, the printer is not connected to the internet. Solutions to the most common LAN printer issues can be found here.

Setting it Up in the POS System

  1. Open the Storyous app.
  2. Go to the Menu using the ≡ icon in the top left corner, then click Settings > Printers.
  3. Select the LAN printer that is offline.
  4. Click on the address and enter the IP address from the self-test printout.
  5. Confirm.
  6. Log out and log back into the Storyous app.

  2. Do not place objects or metal materials around the printer that could interfere with the Bluetooth signal.
