Setting up the All‑in‑One mobile waiter with the Teya app

In this article, you will learn how to set up the PAX A920Pro All‑in‑One mobile waiter. Here you will find instructions for setting up and linking the payment gateway, as well as the most common issues and how to resolve them.

Important:

  • You can find the device’s serial number on the back as S/N: under the barcode.
  • Make sure the device is connected to only one type of network – either Wi‑Fi or mobile data (you can see the connection in the top bar).

Setting up the Teya Payments app

  1. Launch the Teya Payments app and allow access to Location, Phone and Media.
  1. Click Get started, select the language and, if needed, connect to Wi‑Fi (the device contains a SIM card, so connecting to Wi‑Fi is not necessary).
  2. Click Start sign‑in and follow the instructions on the screen:
    • You can use the Teya app on your mobile phone, the Camera app or a QR code reader and then tap Show QR code.
      • In the Teya app go to Explore -> Payment devices -> Activate and scan the QR code.
      • In the Camera app, scan the QR code and tap the link. A pre‑filled code will be displayed; just send it and then sign in using your email address and password.
  1. Check the venue name and click Next.
  2. Create a manager PIN code and confirm it, adjust the Quick settings according to your needs and click Start selling.

Explanation of Quick settings:

  • Other card schemes: Turn on acceptance of cards issued by American Express and Diners Club. Your foreign guests may use these cards.
  • Merchant receipt: After every card payment a payment confirmation will be printed directly from the terminal.
  • Tips: You can accept tips directly on the terminal. Set the percentage rates and choose either Maximisation (the customer will have to tap the screen for the payment gateway to open) or Fast checkout (it is not necessary to select a tip; the payment gateway opens immediately).

Setting up the Storyous POS app

Return to the home screen by clicking the circle icon on the bottom bar (to show it, swipe up from the bottom edge). Tap to open the Storyous app and sign in.

The Teya Payments and Storyous apps will be linked automatically when you process the first card payment, or you can link the device manually:

  1. On the mobile waiter in the Storyous app, click Menu ≡ -> Settings -> Payment terminal.
  2. Click Pair new terminal and select Teya Payment – App on this device.

If you do not want payments to be entered manually in the Teya Payments app, you can enable integration with the POS (this way the app will be protected by a PIN).

Card payment

  1. Create a New bill or select an open bill in the Storyous app on the POS.
  2. Click Pay all / Pay separately at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select By card.
  4. The payment will automatically appear on the terminal or in the terminal app on the mobile waiter.
  5. Tap, insert or swipe the card.
  6. The bill will be automatically marked as paid in Storyous.

Troubleshooting

If the connection to the terminal gateway is not working, check the following:

  • Make sure the terminal is connected to the internet.
  • Restart the device.
  • Check the connection of the terminal application in the Storyous app:
    • In the Storyous app, go to the ≡ Menu in the top left corner and select Settings -> Payment terminal.
      • If you see Paired terminal name: Teya Payments, the terminal application is connected.
      • If you see a different device, click Unpair and select + Pair terminal.
      • Pair the Teya Payments app on this device.
  • Check that the Teya Payments app is configured – when you open it, you see a calculator or the Pay from POS mode (the Teya logo and your business name). If you see the Get started button, you need to set up the payment gateway according to the Setting up the Teya Payments app section above.
