Kiosk Configuration

You have received a new kiosk with the Storyous application installed and need to configure it before you can use it.

Before starting it for the first time, we recommend reading the Setting up your kiosk article so that you can immediately test product selection and a transaction after configuration.

1. Setting up the terminal

Get started
  1. Check that the correct name and address of your venue are displayed on the screen.

  2. Tap Get started.

  3. Select the language in which you want to use the terminal and tap Continue.

Important: If the venue name or address is incorrect, tap Help → Don't recognise this business? → Log out. Then follow the on-screen instructions.
Connect the terminal to Wi-Fi

To complete the activation, the terminal requires a secure internet connection. We recommend using Wi-Fi because it is usually faster and more stable.

  1. Wait until the list of available Wi-Fi networks appears.

  2. Select your venue's secure Wi-Fi network.

  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password and tap Connect.

  4. Wait until the status Connected ✓ appears.

Create a manager PIN

The manager PIN protects sensitive terminal functions, such as refunds or changing settings.

  1. Enter a four-digit PIN.

  2. Enter the PIN again and confirm it.

After confirming the PIN, the welcome screen will appear. The terminal is now ready to accept payments.

Tip: Share the manager PIN only with trusted members of staff.
Complete the basic setup
  1. You can rename the terminal or keep the automatically generated name.
  2. You can skip the settings and return to them at any time, even after activation.
  3. You should see the Teya logo (or your own logo if you uploaded it beforehand), confirming that the terminal has been activated successfully.
If you see a keypad for entering an amount manually instead, tap the Menu icon in the top-left corner and select POS system – External ePOS integration – POS system (instead of standalone mode). You can return using the arrow in the top-left corner.

2. Setting up the Storyous application for the kiosk

Connecting the device to Wi-Fi

Before launching the Storyous application, connect the device to your venue's network. Make sure that the network is password-protected and dedicated to use with the POS system. This will ensure the smoothest possible ordering experience for your customers.

Licence key

If you received the kiosk from a recommended hardware provider other than Storyous, you will be asked to enter a licence key the first time you launch the application. You can obtain it by calling customer support – instructions will be displayed directly on the kiosk screen when the application is open. The licence key is valid for only 2 minutes, so we recommend calling once the kiosk has been installed and connected to the internet.

After entering the licence key, sign in using your account. We recommend creating a dedicated account for the kiosk so that you can easily track sales statistics by user.

Printer

Click Printers. You will see the paired printer and its status. If it is online, everything is fine. If it is offline, check whether the printer is switched on. If it remains offline after being switched on, please contact customer support.

Click the printer name and print a test receipt to make sure that everything is working correctly.

Payment terminal

Go back two steps and click Payment terminal → Pair terminal. Wait for the devices to be found and select the serial number of the terminal you set up in the first step.

You can easily find the serial number on the back of the device or directly on the terminal:

  • Tap the Teya logo in the top-right corner.

  • Open the main menu.

  • Enter the manager PIN.

  • Tap the three dots in the top-right corner.

  • Open Help.

  • You will see the serial number in the centre of the screen.

Wait for the terminal to pair. Confetti will appear once pairing has been completed successfully.

Launching the kiosk

Go back one step and click Kiosk → Launch kiosk.

After pressing the Launch kiosk button, the application will switch to the kiosk screen. You can exit it only by tapping the top-right corner and entering a code generated on any other Storyous POS device under Menu → Settings → Kiosk.

If you need to return to the printer and terminal settings menu, tap the top-right corner of the screen and enter the one-time code. The code is displayed on any POS terminal at the same venue under Menu → Settings → Kiosk.
