Offline mode

If your internet connection goes down, you can still use the Storyous system in offline mode, though some functions will be limited. This article explains those limitations. If you lose internet while using the system, the application will notify you via the top status bar.

If your tablet is not connected to the internet at login, the sales application will inform you and offer an option to either retry the connection or log in to offline mode (1).

Two types of offline operation

  1. No local network (the tablet is not connected to Wi-Fi or via LAN)
In this case, you can use the system only on the main cash register (master device).
Other cash registers or tablets will not communicate with the system because they are not connected to each other.

Sales are temporarily stored only on the main device and will automatically synchronize with the web administration once the internet connection is restored.

  2. Local network available (e.g. master tablet connected to Wi-Fi and printers connected to the same router via LAN)
If the internet connection is lost but your devices remain connected within the local network, the system will continue to communicate between the cash registers and connected devices in offline mode.

This means that orders will continue to print and the registers will work together even when the internet connection from your provider is down.

Limitations of Offline Mode

There is no time limit for using offline mode, but we recommend using it for a maximum of a few days to prevent potential data loss.

When working offline, some features will be restricted compared to online mode:

  • Cash transactions and financial closures cannot be performed.
  • Closed accounts will not sync with the web administration immediately. The system will display a warning about unsynchronized accounts. However, once you reconnect to the internet, the accounts will automatically sync—this may take some time, so patience is required.
  • Receipt printing will function normally.
  • The Statistics section will not be accessible, as it typically opens the web administration in a browser.
  • Changes made in the web administration will not sync with the tablet application. This means you cannot update product prices, create or move tables, or make other adjustments
