If your internet connection goes down, you can still use the Storyous system in offline mode, with some limitations of certain features described in this article. If the internet connection drops while you are using the app, it will notify you on the top bar and in theSystem check.
If the tablet is not connected to the internet when logging in, the POS application will notify you and offer you either to try reconnecting or to log in to offline mode.
Two types of offline behaviour

No local network (the tablet is not connected to Wi‑Fi or LAN)
In this case, you can use the system only on the main till (master device).
Other tills or tablets will not communicate with the system because they are not connected to each other.Sales are temporarily stored only on the main device and, once the internet connection is restored, they are automatically synchronised with the web administration.

You have a local network (e.g. the master tablet connected via Wi‑Fi/LAN and printers connected to the same router via LAN)
If the internet connection is interrupted but your devices remain connected within the local network, the system will continue to communicate in offline mode between tills and connected devices (mobile waiters and printers).
This means that orders will keep printing and tills will continue to work together, even if the internet connection from your provider is not working.
Limitations of offline mode
Working in offline mode is not in any way time‑limited, but we recommend using it for a maximum of a few days due to the possible risk of data loss.
Compared to working online, some features are limited:
- You will not be able to work with cash movements or perform a closure.
- All closed bills will not appear in the web administration and the system will show you unsynchronised bills (once the connection is restored, bills will finish synchronising automatically, but this may take some time).
- You also won’t be able to access the Statistics section, which would normally open the web administration in the browser on your tablet.
- Any changes made in the web administration will not be reflected in the app on the tablet, so you cannot change product prices in your menu, create or move tables and so on.
