Network Environment Requirements for Storyous

Storyous is a modern POS system that helps simplify and automate operations. However, for the system to function reliably and efficiently, it is essential to ensure an appropriate network environment.

This article focuses on the key network infrastructure requirements that must be met for optimal operation of Storyous. From connection stability to router specifications, you will learn what steps to take to ensure your system runs smoothly and supports your business's daily activities seamlessly.

One tablet with wireless Bluetooth printer

  • Dedicated Wi-Fi for Storyous operation, secured with WPA/WPA2 (password-protected)
  • Network exclusively for Storyous on a completely free Wi-Fi channel
  • Port 3331 enabled on the router

RECOMMENDED:

  • Dedicated router exclusively for Storyous operation
  • Public network for customers should have its own router (or access point for more complex networks)
  • Wi-Fi channel set to avoid overlap with other channels (e.g., if the router is set to channel 1, the next network should be at least on channel 3, ideally on channel 4)
  • Consult an expert when setting up the network in your business

One or more tablets with network LAN printer

  • LAN printers connected via uninterrupted UTP cable directly to the router for POS
  • Dedicated Wi-Fi for Storyous operation, secured with WPA/WPA2 (password-protected)
  • Separate IP address range for Storyous operation, managed either through static IP addresses for POS and printers or through a separate router (recommended)
  • Network exclusively for Storyous on a completely free Wi-Fi channel
  • Router supporting packet routing outside its DHCP table, or static IP addresses reserved for printers within the router settings
  • Port 3331 enabled on the router
  • For mobile waiters, sufficient Wi-Fi coverage across the area where service will take place

RECOMMENDED:

  • Reserve static IP addresses for printers in the router, outside the automatic DHCP range
  • Dedicated router exclusively for Storyous operation (ideally with NAT enabled)
  • Public network for customers should have its own router (or access point for more complex networks)
  • Wi-Fi channel set to avoid overlap with other channels (e.g., if the router is set to channel 1, the next network should be at least on channel 3, ideally on channel 4)
  • Use higher-quality network hardware (e.g., Mikrotik)
  • Consult an expert when setting up the network in your business
