If there is a power outage, a router replacement, or an automatic change of the device’s IP address caused by the router, the IP address of your Xprinter LAN printer may change. If this happens, the printer will not print and will appear offline. If you have a LAN STAR model, instructions can be found further down in the article.
The first step is to perform a self-test on the printer and then use the information from it to proceed with the settings.
Self-test
- Turn off the printer using the switch on the right side.
- Press and hold the FEED button, turn on the printer, and release the button after 3 seconds.
- The printed slip will include the printer’s IP address.
On the self-test, we are interested in two pieces of information: IP address and Net DHCP:
Net DHCP enabled: The printer is ready to receive a new IP address. Enter the IP address from the self-test into the POS application. Instructions can be found below.
Net DHCP disabled: The IP address on the printer is fixed. You need to unfix this IP address – sometimes this can be done mechanically on the printer by performing a factory reset. You can verify that it worked if DHCP on the self-test changes from disabled to enabled. Instructions for the factory reset are provided further down in the article.
IP address: The new IP address needs to be set in the POS system. Instructions are provided below.
| Important: If the IP address is in the format 192.168.123.100, it means that the printer is not receiving internet. Check the LAN cable connection to the printer (the port should show both green and orange lights). If it does not, check the LAN cable connection to the router and/or restart the router. Alternatively, test the LAN cable by connecting it to another device (from the router to a computer or POS terminal). |
Setting a New IP Address in the POS
Open the Storyous app on the main POS terminal.
Go to the Menu by tapping ≡ in the top left corner, then select Settings > Printers.
Select the LAN printer that is offline.
Tap Printer Address and enter the IP address from the self-test.
Tap OK.
Log out and log back into the Storyous app.
| Important: If a blank paper comes out or the paper shows the word “hexadecimal”, repeat the procedure – the self-test was unsuccessful. |
Test Print
In the POS application, tap Menu ≡ > Settings > Printers.
Select the printer and tap Test Print.
The printer will print: “Your device is working correctly.”
Mechanical Unfixing – Factory Reset
- Turn off the printer, press and hold the FEED button, and while holding it, turn the printer on. After the front panel flashes twice, release the FEED button. The process should take about 20 seconds.
If the self-test shows DHCP enabled, the printer is ready to receive a new IP address.
The new address needs to be set in the POS application according to the instructions above.
If Net DHCP is still disabled, the IP address must be unfixed software-wise. This process can be done using a large 14" or 15" POS terminal.
Software Unfixing
Select the device on which you want to perform the software unfixing of the IP address. After clicking on the selected device, you will find a detailed step-by-step guide.

Fixing the IP Address
If you wish to fix the printer’s IP address, you must first assign a static IP address in the router and only then set it in the printer. However, we do not recommend this, as it may cause issues when changing the router or if configured incorrectly. Please consult your network specialist before proceeding with IP address fixation.

How to fix the IP address depending on your device (just click on your model):
⬇️ Xprinter printer
To ensure that your printer always has the same IP address, you first need to set a fixed IP in your Wi-Fi router. For this, you can contact your internet service provider for help.
Once the IP address is set in the router, you need to configure it directly in the printer.
Access the Printer’s Interface
Open a web browser and type the printer's IP address in the address bar. You must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the printer is on. If you are, the printer’s interface will appear.Configure the Printer’s IP Address
On the left side, click on "Configuration" and then select the second option: "Fixed IP Address". In the next three fields, enter the details from the self-test (Device IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address): IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway.Save the Changes
To save the settings, click "Save" under the table. A dialog box will appear where you can confirm the new settings by clicking "OK".Restart the Printer
Finally, restart the printer by clicking the "Restart" button under the menu.
⬇️ Printer LAN Start
If you want your printer to always have the same IP address, you first need to set it as a fixed IP in your Wi-Fi router. Contact your internet service provider for assistance with this.
Once the IP address is set in the router, it needs to be configured directly in the printer.
Check Your Connection
Ensure that your tablet is connected to the Wi-Fi network broadcast by the router connected to the printer. Print an informational self-test paper following the instructions above and leave the printer turned on. The last three details on the second paper under "Current IP Parameter Status" are important.Access the Printer’s Web Interface
On your tablet, open Google Chrome and type the IP address from the self-test (in the format of four numbers separated by periods) into the address bar. This will open the printer’s interface.Login to the Printer’s Interface
In the printer’s web interface, you will need to configure the device for stable printing. On the left side, first, click the "Login" tab under "System Access". Log in with the username root and the password public.Configure the IP Settings
After logging in, go to the "Network Configuration" category. Select "IP Parameters", check the "Static" option, and enter the three IP settings from the self-test in the appropriate fields. Confirm the new settings by clicking "Submit".Enable Multi-Session
Next, go to "System Configuration" and change the second option in the list (#9100 Multi Session) to "ENABLE". Save this setting by clicking "Submit".Configuration Print
The last step is to perform a configuration print. In the "Save" tab, select "Save - Configuration printing - Restart device" (the longer of the two options) and click "Execute". The printer will print a report with the new settings. This printout is not essential, but it indicates that everything is properly configured.
